Why You Are a Fool If You Try to Go Your Business Alone
I've written before about the importance of connecting with others in building your business.

I know, a lot of us set out to build a business so we could meander down to the computer in our pajamas, press a couple of buttons to check how much money has rolled into our account overnight and then stroll out to the patio of our luxurious villa for breakfast and planning our day of relaxation and leisure.

A lot of us long for a business of our own because we want to get away from people. We want to get away from the obnoxious person in the workplace, the psycho boss, the unreasonable customers we served.

I won't go into another of my rants about how building a business is all about connecting with others. I'm sure you can find one easily enough in the archives.

But what I will share with you today is a great example of the benefit of building connections with other business owners.

Today, I ran the concept for a business idea past a savvy business owner that I hoped to partner with on the idea. He loved the idea and immediately added to it. He suggested a killer way of promoting the idea that I was completely unaware of.

By doing nothing more than having a preliminary discussion with another business owner, I was able to add his ideas to the project and make the project even more attractive.

You can't afford to be a Lone Ranger in your business if you want your business to thrive. I played Lone Ranger for over five years and managed nothing more than a business that kept afloat only by me working even longer hours than the 9-5 job that I had left.

But the more I involve myself with other business owners, the more -- and better -- opportunities and ideas I find.

Don't be afraid to connect with others. It's the lifeblood of your business.
