Your Business Is All About... What???
If you were to sum up in one word what is at the core of a successful business, what what you say?

Your business is all about relationships. Think about it a moment.

Want to make a sale? What do you have to do? You have to convince someone that what you're selling is greater in value than the money they give you in return.

Want someone to promote your products to their mailing list? What do you have to do? You have to convince the list holder that the benefit he or she receives from recommending you outweighs the effort they put into promoting you.

Look at any key part of your business and a relationship lurks beneath the surface. That's why it's so important to build your relationship skills.

No, I'm not talking about joining Toastmasters or learning how to paste a sincere-looking smile on your face while you vigorously shake people's hands.

But you've got to get out of your basement or your bedroom or whatever you use as your home office. You have to learn how to interact, how to empathize, how to recognize what people need.

Too often, new business owners go into everything with a self-focused approach of "What do I get out of this?" Sadly, a few people manage to make good money this way. They do it by manipulating people and ripping them off. But even they succeed at their self-centered game only because they have a good understanding of what makes people tick.

I have never met a successful business owner who didn't have a deep understanding of people. Understanding people is a core skill that businesspeople must develop if they want to succeed.

Another Hot Offer and a Hypnotic Writing Monkey
Not long after I finished putting together my Hot Offer selections for the week, I got an email from copywriting genius Joe Vitale. Rather than redo my selections, I decided to add this as an addendum.

He's offering a $197 product for free today. Sound good? It's something he's held off the market since last summer. Sound even better? It's something I've personally found invaluable in copywriting.

But even better, you can learn a lot about copywriting just by reading the email he wrote. So, with his permission, I've reprinted it here.

He both describes and gives examples of the techinques that have made him one of the best copywriters around. And in doing so he shows just how easy it can be to write powerful copy.

"A monkey could swipe my material and write a cash-pulling sales letter, email, blog... or any marketing message.

"The only condition is the monkey needs to be able to read.

"I'll prove it to you.

"Right now I have no idea how to write this article called: "How to Easily Use My Hypnotic Marketing Material to Get Gloriously Rich."

"So, in this case, I'M the monkey.

"Now follow my path....

"I grab my material and flip through it -- which is what I'm doing right now -- and I spot a phrase...

"You don't realize it, but in the next few minutes you're going to learn..."

"I add to that phrase something my monkey mind gives me, "...how to get people to do your bidding by using this amazing collection of hypnotic marketing materials."

"I now have this: "You don't realize it, but in the next few minutes you're going to learn how to get people to do your bidding by using this amazing collection of hypnotic marketing materials."

"There, I just wrote a good line. Any monkey could do it, as long as said monkey can type.

"If you're like me, you'll probably want another example.

"Stop!

"Did you notice that "If you're like me..." is one of the hypnotic lines from my material?

"It is.

"It's in the Hypnotic Writing Swipe File.

"My monkey mind found it and used it.

"And "Stop!" is from there, too.

"I saw it and tossed it into the above paragraph.

Why You Don't Want Your Business to Be an Overnight Success
That's right. You don't want your business to be an overnight success.

Sounds crazy, doesn't it?

But there's a good reason for that.

If you experience success instantly, you don't know how to handle it.

You got there by luck and you don't know how to maintain it. You live in fear that the same luck that brought you success will suddenly strip it away from you. You have no power over whether you succeed or fail.

You're much better off if you get your success by skill.

If you took an integral part in achieving your success, you've built a storehouse of knowledge that you can use to build further successes. That storehouse of knowledge enables you to maintain your success.

The problem with achieving your success by skill is that it diesn't happen overnight. It takes time. You have to work at it. You have to learn. You have to grow.

But it gives you a resource that no one can take away. Once you've learned how to build a business (or do whatever you want to succeed at), you can always do it over again if you have to.
No, you don't want to be an overnight success. You want to be a success that can last. And there's no way to do that overnight.

P.S. You can grow your ability to succeed by trial and error. Lots of people have gone that route and succeeded.

Or you can shorten your learning curve by learning from people who have already traveled the exact route you seek to travel.
