Making Lemonade
You've heard the saying, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade" (and if you haven't heard that, please come out of the cave you've been hiding in and join the rest of us).

Making lemonade is the position I'm in right now. After a pleasant visit with my daughter and her fiance as they unveiled the new performance space they just bought for her Dare to Dream theatre program, my wife and I got stranded on the way back when our car's transmission went out.

Rather than going into the whole "Why is this happening to me" deal that I've sunk into when past car problems have troubled us, I'm taking a different approach this time.

I'm approaching it as an opportunity to get a different perspective on things. I didn't expect to have much dead time this trip, so I didn't bring much work along.

So, instead, I'm filling the time that my wife is reading by doing some business research I hadn't had much time for and taking a more strategic view of where I want to go.

I've had no great epiphanys yet. But replacing the victim mentality that I so often adopt when things go wrong with an adventure mentality is refreshing.

The way I see it, I can look at this from two perspectives. I can either adopt a "Why is this happening?" perspective or a "What good can I bring out of this?" perspective. I definitely like the latter perspective better.
