The Key to a Profitable Info Site
OK, so I had my little rant against autogenerated info sites last week. But if the autogenerated sites aren't the way to go, what is?

Quality content.

There's a lot more you can do with content that people actually appreciate than with a dozen sites that exist to give them nothing but a page full of ads. Hey, people do know how to use the Back button, you know.

But with content that draws people in and holds them, you can deliver them options for monetizing their visit that they find far more appealing to click on.

I've talked before about Nori Evoy, who, at 14, built a site about her favorite vacation spot that not only has made her thousands of dollars but has given her status as a celebrity—both in that vacation spot and on the Web. You'll find her story—and the story of many other successful business owners—on the SiteSell family bulletin board page.

It's fun browsing through the stories on the bulletin board (just click on a Post-it note to open the story). And you can't help but see how valuable quality content can be in building a profitable site.

Granted, SiteSell isn't something you'll want to use to build 100 separate sites. But's a great place to learn how to build a profitable one—whether that profitable one is the first you've ever tried or your tenth. They have great resources for taking you step by step through the whole process of building and promoting a site so it's profitable. And they have a proven track record of success.

But go ahead and browse through the bulletin board and I think you'll see the value of a content-driven site.
